This full-length ‘art folk concept album’ consists of 12 instrumental compositions drawing upon worldwide styles of traditional and folk music, woven together with modern psychedelic influences and soundscapes. Philip Xander’s acoustic guitar forms the basis of lush arrangements featuring various traditional instruments such as mandolin, violin, Celtic harp, harmonium, Arabic percussion and double bass, as well as the contemporary Rhodes piano, synthesizers and a drum kit.

Withershins is a young band from the Netherlands who take a bold and contemporary approach to Irish and Scottish traditional music. Their eponymous EP features crazy not-quite-Irish tunes in dastardly arrangements with strange twists and turns, a story about an evil and ugly but strangely flirtatious witch, a song about waking up in a barn in a tender embrace with a pig after a night of heavy drinking and more.
